Mr. Reash has conducted and applied several studies leading to less stringent water quality standards or applicable effluent limitations.  Many of these involved using novel technical approaches.  The following are examples of these studies:

  • Development of a site-specific copper water quality criterion for a receiving stream in Eastern Kentucky

  • Using a water effects ratio (WER) study, developed a less stringent water quality criterion for hexavalent chromium at a receiving stream in Eastern Ohio, allowing 100% compliance for the new permit limitation.

  • Assisted in developing a less stringent aquatic life criterion for copper for a receiving stream in West Virginia using results of instream chemical and biological studies.

  • Assisted in developing a less stringent aquatic life criterion for iron at a receiving stream in West Virginia.

  • Developed less stringent water temperature limitations for two  coal-fired power plants in Eastern Ohio.
